Exterior Shades Installed in a Rooftop in SOHO

South of Houston Street in Manhattan resides a community known simply as SOHO. It is a vibrant neighborhood of trendy shops, galleries, restaurants and apartments. A few fortunate residents have rooftop patios with great views overlooking the city. With such exposure comes lots of sun and excessive glare. This is where the shading consultants of InSync Solar comes in.

After visiting the site we recommended an exterior shades manufactured by our partner Bandalux Contract. This cylindrical headbox is called the O-Box. It is a beautifully designed enclosure that is equipped with side cables for the roller shade as it travels up and down.

The fabric is PolyScreen 403 in Ebony Bronze. This fabric has an openness of 3% which is required with the direct southern and western exposures. The dark color also is very effective in reducing solar heat gain as well as glare.

The system is controlled with a wireless remote control. Also we installed and programed a wind and sun sensor by Somfy called the Soliris. The Soliris combined sun and wind sensor continually monitors sun intensity and wind speed, triggering the control unit to extend or retract the shades as needed.It includes an integrated radio receiver that makes it possible to operate the controls individually or in groups.
